There is serious concern that the works proposed - the laying of hardcore and digging of footings - have had a harmful impact on the oak tree on site and the 3 trees in close proximity to the mutual side boundary with 56 Anstey Lane. These trees are all protected by virtue of being within the Thurcaston Conservation Area. The works have taken place contrary to BS5837 and have resulted in harm to the root systems since parts of the material have become self-bonded which has impeded air and water exchange. This has resulted in short and long term damage to trees contrary to Policies CS2, CS14 and CS25 of the Charnwood Local Plan 2011 - 2028 Core Strategy, saved policy EV/1 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan (adopted 12th January 2004), Policies T&C1, T&C2, T&C7 and T&C13 of the Thurcaston and Cropston Neighbourhood Plan, the Council's SPD on Design, and the national guidance given in the National Planning Policy Framework and the National Design Guide.
