Both trees are in dormancy period and the twig and bud distribution appears normal suggesting not dead. .If the trees fail to enfoliate in spring and remain so a further R14 5 Day Notice to fell dead trees can be submtted to the Council. The turn around for decision for R14 exemption works is 5 days or less.

The trees are in a sound and healthy condition and, by reason of their prominent location, contribute significantly to the appearance and character of the area. The local planning authority is not satisfied that there are any reasons for their removal that are sufficient to over-ride the importance of retaining this amenity role. If consent were to be granted for their felling, it would set an undesirable precedent making it difficult to resist similar requests to fell other trees in the vicinity, to the overall disadvantage of the locality.
