Reasons 1

The local planning authority considers that the size and siting of the proposed two storey extension would be detrimental to the amenities of occupiers of 55 Allington Drive due to overshadowing, dominance and a substantial loss of light. The design of the proposed extensions with the large flat roofed areas creates discordant features incompatible with the existing dwelling and neighbouring dwellings. For these reasons the proposal would be contrary to the intentions of saved Policy H/17 and EV/1 of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan and Policy CS 2 of the emerging Charnwood Local Plan Core Strategy 2006 to 2028, which seek to ensure that a development would not be detrimental to the amenities of occupiers of nearby properties, and in conflict with the advice given on the location of extensions in the Borough Council's adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance on House Extensions.
