The structure dominates the rear elevation and uses materials and construction which do not enhance the strong character of the building and appears as a crude addition which obscures features of interest. The hard, strong lines of the structure are at odds with the soft vernacular character of the property and its form and scale dominate what remains a significant elevation. The design and form of the proposal therefore causes harm to the significance of the listed building. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policies EV/1 and H/17 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan and emerging Policies CS2 and CS14 of the Borough of Charnwood Core Strategy 2006-2028.
