The proposed side and roof extension by reason of scale, massing and overall appearance, would result in an incongruous form of development that would fail to represent a subservient form of extension. In addition, the alteration to the roof to change it from a hipped roof to a gable end roof will be out of keeping with surrounding properties of similar style, and detract from the uniform character and appearance of the surrounding area. Accordingly, the proposed development would be contrary with the relevant provisions to Policy CS2 of the Charnwood Local Plan (Core Strategy) and "saved" Policies EV/1 and H/17 of the Charnwood Local Plan 2004. Furthermore, the proposal will be contrary with the relevant provisions of Chapter 12 of the National Planning Policy Framework.
