The local planning authority considers that the proposed extension to the building, would appear as an undesirable intrusion into the landscape and therefore harmful to the character and appearance of the rural locality. The authority is of the view that the scale, massing and height of the extension is a disproportionate increase in size and the design is not compatible with the group of adjoining buildings. As such the development would be contrary to the saved policies H/17, EV/1, CT/1 and CT/2 of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan (adopted 12th January 2004), Policies CS 2 and CS 11 of the emerging Charnwood Local Plan Core Strategy 2006 to 2028 and the provisions with the National Planning Policy Framework.
