The local planning authority considers that the size and siting of the proposed first floor extension would be detrimental to the amenities of occupiers of 6 Hollybrook Close due to overshadowing, dominance and a substantial loss of light to the front of that dwelling. For these reasons the proposal would be contrary to the intentions of saved Policies H/17 and EV/1 of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan, which seek to ensure that a development would not be detrimental to the amenities of occupiers of nearby properties, and in conflict with the advice given on the location of extensions in the Borough Council's adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance on House Extensions.
