The demolition of the existing wall without an appropriate relacement building or alternatively acceptable boundary treatment is not justified and would result in a detriment to the visual appearance of the site by virtue of allowing clear views of the existing builders yard, and would thereby fail to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the heritage asset known as the Hoton Conservation Area. The proposed demolition would thereby be contrary to guidance in PPS 5 Planning for the Historic Environment.
