The dwelling is sited in a prominent countryside location . Saved Policy EV/1 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan requires new development to respect and enhance the local environment and be compatible with the surrounding area. It is the opinion of the local planning authority that the proposed first floor extension, by reason of its mass, form and detailing would be damaging to the scale and symmetry of the existing semi-detached dwelling and appear as an incongruous feature within the landscape detrimental to the character and appearance of the locality. The proposed extension is, therefore contrary to Policy EV/1 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan (adopted 12th January 2004).
