The proposed timber shelter is considered to be wholly inappropriate in terms of its design and nature and would introduce an alien and incongruous feature to the historic building, which would be damaging to the character and appearance of the building and its architectural and historical intergrity. The proposal would therefore be contrary to EV/1 of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan, Environment Policy 1 of the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan and to the national policy guidance set out in PPG15 (Planning and the Historic Environment).
