The signs, by reason of their number, size and location on the approach to Barrow-upon-Soar, appear unduly conspicuous and incongruous on this rural edge of the village within an Area of Special Control, to the detriment of visual amenity. For this reason, the continued display of the signs in their entirety is contrary to advice contained in PPG19 Outdoor Advertisement Control and the intentions of Strategy Policy 8 of the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan and saved Policy CT/1 of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan. Note to Applicant: In the light of the above refusal of consent, you are advised to remove the unauthorised signs forthwith. Failure to do so may result in the Borough Council taking prosecution proceedings to secure their removal.
