The local planning authority is of the opinion that the siting of the proposed two-storey extension, by reason of both its length and height and its close proximity to the rear elevations and gardens of 9 and 11 Buttermere Way, would have a dominant and overbearing impact to the detriment of the amenities of the residents of these properties. Furthermore, the proposed first floor front window of the two-storey extension would have an intrusive impact on the rear windows and rear garden area of 69 Thirlemere Road resulting in an unacceptable loss of privacy. In these respects, the development is contrary to Policies EV/1(vii) and H/17(iii) of the adopted Borough of Charnwood Local Plan and to the Council's adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance on 'House Extensions' and Supplementary Planning Document, 'Leading in Design'.
