The siting of the garage, would require the removal of two protected Pine trees, which forms part of a prominent and visually important group along the Walton Way frontage of the property, and the siting of the extension to the side of the dwelling would have a detrimental effect on the root system of the nearby Oak tree, also included in the tree preservation order, and likely to result in increased pressure in the future to require works or the loss of the Oak tree. It is the opinion of the local planning authority that the loss of the trees would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the area therefore, contrary to Policy H/17 and EV/1 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan.
