The local planning authority is of the opinion that the shutter box, mounted externally and accentuating the depth of the fascia, would be unduly prominent and detrimental to the appearance of the building and to the character of the street scene. Therefore, the proposal would be contrary to Policy CA/13 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan (January 2004), which requires shop front security measures to integrate into the existing fabric of the building, and to the guidance contained in the Council's adopted Supplementary Planning Document, Leading in Design : Shopfronts and Signs, adopted in January 2006.
