The portacabin, by virtue of its remote isolated location within the airfield complex and its urban appearance, is seriously detrimental to the visual appearance of the countryside. The proposal is out of character with its location and is thereby contrary to Strategy Policy 8 of the Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Structure Plan, 2005, and Policies ST/1, EV/1, CT/1, CT/2, and RT/2 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan, 2004. The local planning authority does not consider that the desire to provide for the spectating of activities in this part of the airfield is sufficient justification for the continued standing of the building in conflict with the intentions of development plan policy.
