Reasons 1

It is the opinion of the local planning authority that the proposed extension, by reason of its siting, would result in the loss of a substantial section of the Hawthorn hedge to the side boundary of the property. This was specifically retained and protected during the course of development as it contributes significantly to the character and appearance of the locality. The proposed side gable wall, due to its prominent location at the head of the cul-de-sac of Milner Close, would also appear as a dominant and incongruous feature in the street scene. In these respects the development would be harmful to the character and appearance of the street scene of Milner Close. Therefore, the development is contrary to Policies EV/1 and H/17 of the Borough of Charnwood Local Plan. Informative: The Hawthorn hedgerow was required to be retained and reinforced with additional planting in accordance with the approved landscaping scheme to comply with the terms of the planning permission for the residential development reference.no P/99/0990/2.
