The encroachment of the proposed curtilage and garage extension, together with the change of use of the remaining land from open amenity space to residential use, would lead to the loss of a spacious and attractive landscape setting for the public footpath. This would be to the detriment of the character and appearance of the locality and contrary to Policies H/14 and RT/5 of the Deposit Draft Borough of Charnwood Local Plan which seek high standards of amenity within residential developments. In addition, the grant of permission would result in the likelihood of further extensions to the enclosed residential curtilages of both the application property and that of No.12, which would be made thereby more difficult to resist. This would result in the footpath becoming even more closely confined which would further increase both the risk of crime and the perceived insecurity associated with narrow footpath links, This would be contrary to policies EV/20 and H/14 of the Deposit Draft Borough of Charnwood Local Plan.
