The Ash tree, which is in a sound and healthy condition, contributes significantly to the appearance and character of the locality and its removal would detract from this amenity. The evidence submitted in support of the application - of the apparently detrimental effects of the tree - is not considered to be sufficiently convincing to justify the felling of this tree. If consent were to be granted, it would set an undesirable precedent making it difficult to resist requests to fell other similar trees in the vicinity, to the further detriment of the area's character.
